I have so many fond memories of Craig, it's hard to pick just a few to share. Many have already been related by others, and I'm so grateful to be able to read your posts and remember all the good times. Even though I'm sad and still kind of in shock that he's gone, I still can't help but smile whenever I think of Craig. He truly lived the words of the hymn: scatter sunshine all along the way; cheer and bless and brighten every passing day.
I remember one particular day that Craig brightened: It was the day of the summer band pool party. My car broke down after our morning rehearsal, leaving me stranded and without a way to get the errands done that I needed to before the band social. Craig cheerfully offered to drive me home and to the store in the good old Decker station wagon. He waited in the car while I went in to get what I needed from my house.
When I came out, he had his beach towel hanging out one back window, and he asked if he could borrow mine, and hung it out the other. We then proceeded to drive around West Jordan with our "speed towels" streaming behind the station wagon.
Craig's kindness and quirky sense of humor took a bad day and turned it into a fun time, and a memory that I still laugh about years later. He had a gift for making everyone around him feel good. Several people have already mentioned his simple, sincere compliments. I know my self-esteem benefitted from those as well. It was truly a blessing to be able to call him my friend, and I already miss him so much! But I know that the Lord has great things in store for him, and he will continue to brighten days and bless lives in the eternities.
Goodbye for now, Craig. Thanks for your example, your smile, your friendship, and all the great memories. I can’t wait to see you again and shake your right hand!
