There are so many reasons why I can never forget Craig and I learned quickly of his positive attitude and his great sense of humor. We first met at a ward break the fast and he asked how long I had been home from my mission and I said "Oh I came home in January, so about 4 months." he immediately replied, "Oh so you were coming home from your mission while I was blowing off my hand, that's so great!" And we continued to talk about how he has overcome so many obstacles since then and how he continued to keep a positive attitude. Never once did I hear even a hint of disappointment or negativity regarding the loss of his hand or how that experience had truly impacted his plans for life.
He just said, "Now I have an opportunity to change my plans to what the Lord wants me to be doing. And it is obviously something without my right hand." And of course he said all of this with a great big smile! From the moment I met him he helped me see that a positive attitude and a sense of humor can help make the situations of life better and you can look forward with a hope for a brighter tomorrow knowing you got through today. And its people like Craig who teach us to always look for the positive and he has helped us see how our attitude can affect everyone that we come in contact with. He is a great inspiration and example to me.
