A Farewell Hookshake

I met Craig shortly after he lost his hand. I had some instructional videos on Youtube regarding functional solutions for arm amputees and Craig found them in his quest to get on with his life and not let his amputation slow him down. We all know how well he did in his recovery. He mastered his prosthetic arm quickly. He posted his own Youtube videos to pay it forward to the next arm amputee looking for guidance.

Craig was a brilliant flash of white light in this world. We quickly became friends and at first I was the teacher, sharing prosthetic tips and helping him select his first prosthesis. I then became the student, watching in awe as Craig mastered his prosthetic hook, taught me (the old dog) a few tricks, and continued on living his life at full throttle. His energy and enthusiam were awe inspiring. I am a better man because I knew him. I treasure his frienship.

My heart aches in the knowing that he is gone but there is comfort in knowing that a man who walked in the light of Christ here on earth will continue to do so in heaven. Big hookshake to you little brother, from one hookman to another. Peace.
