Simple memories and gratitude...

I am very grateful for the short opportunity that I got to know Craig. Craig was a fantastic individual with the happiest and brightest personality. He was truly someone who had the light of Christ shining in his eyes. I am grateful for Craig's simple talent to make people smile and laugh. He was able to influence so many people's lives because of that ability.

Two simple memories stand out in my memory. The first was at a Ward Prayer for the BYU 192nd Ward this Summer term. Craig was our talent and did some stand up comedy. He was very funny and of course made some jokes about his hand. He then added that he had never been very comfortable with the term "handicapped" and that he much would have preferred "hand-decapitated." I have never laughed so hard at once and had something from stand up comedy stick with me to make me smile again whenever I think about it.

The second memory was a night in the Wyview Multipurpose Building. That night was an Ice Cream Party for Wyview and Craig was waiting in the hallway for an appointment with Bishop. As the new freshmen girls would walk past he'd ask if they got their ice cream and when they inevitably answered yes he would ask if they had got a date as well. When they replied no, he always offered to take them back out and help them find one.

His attitude was not only one of teasing and happiness but one of kindness and helping as well. I was so impressed by Craig. He will be greatly missed but again I am so grateful for the influence he brought into my life.
