It's hard to pick just one memory of Craig, but one of my favorites would have to be from just 2 months ago. We had just hiked the "Y" as a ward of which Craig was in charge of the activity. Afterwards my roommate and I were starving and couldn't stop talking about banana boats. Craig had never had a banana boat so we had to introduce him to this world wonder. It was already 9 pm so we were shocked when he came over to make them with us because let's face it he always went to bed early and never ate after a certain time.
We all cut our bananas, wrapped them in foil, and very artfully place our toppings on. Craig went crazy with the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips!! He kept saying that his boat welcomed all kinds of people as the different types chips represented different people. We kept calling him Captain Hook that night….the captain of the banana boats. There was no fire so we had to use our gas stove. Craig felt extra special because he could just turn the bananas with his hook unlike my roommate and I who would have burned our hands.
After about 20 minutes our food was STILL not done. So Craig had a brilliant idea of broiling the bananas in the oven. What do you know--IT WORKED!!! He put the banana boat master's to shame. We couldn’t stop smiling as we ate it because it was so good. Clearly we were all banana boat genii. Before he left he demonstrated how he learned to write with his left hand. On our fridge we have a dry erase board of which he wrote “I love apt 53.” Well Craig, we all will continue to feel that love that you had for our little apartment as well as your love for all of the different type of chips you came into contact with in the world.
“Craig was here” is definitely imprinted on all of our hearts. Can’t wait to see you again--
“Apt 53 loves Craig!”
